What is EMI & RFI?

Electromagnetic interference occurs when an electrical component and a radio frequency device interfere with each other’s signals. For example, if a cell phone is being used inside a car, the car’s radio may cause unwanted noise interference within the phone, which can disrupt the call.

RFI is the opposite of EMI: a cell phone’s transmission may interfere with the way the radio receives its transmission. EMI and RFI can drastically affect how electronic and radio frequencies are transmitted and received.
