3M Flame Retardant Barrier Applications
The 3M FRB Series is a flame retardant barrier product that is used for OEM electrical flame barrier applications. The 3M FRB Series is an inorganic-based, halogen-free material with a UL 94 flame rating of 5VA. The 3M FRB Series is a thin but strong electrical insulator that has substantial ignitability resistance. 3M flame retardant barriers can be supplied in roll or sheet form, and is a cost-effective solution in many flame barrier applications, including a wide range of electrical devices, some of which include:

3M Flame Retardant Flammability Ratings
A material’s flammability characteristics are classified into six categories that are listed in decreasing order of flame resistance (5VA, 5VB, V-0, V-1, V-2, HB). These categories are used to describe how well a material responds when ignited in laboratory conditions. These classifications typically apply to materials used in manufacturing enclosures, structural parts, and insulators found in consumer electronic products.
With its UL 94 flame rating of 5VA, the FRB Series surpasses other materials like aramid, polypropylene and polycarbonate. Its dielectric durability becomes even greater when it is densified or laminated to polyester.
